This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar storage technologies Route Posters uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. For broader privacy information see our Privacy Policy.
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser by websites you visit. They are widely used to make sites work correctly, remember your preferences, and — in the case of advertising — to show you relevant ads across the web.
We also use localStorage, which is a browser storage area similar to cookies but not sent with HTTP requests. It stays on your device only.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
rp_consent | localStorage | Stores your cookie consent choice ("all" or "necessary") so we don't show the banner on every visit. | Until you clear site data |
| Editor preferences | localStorage | Saves your last-used poster style, colours, and layout settings in the editor. No personal data. | Until you clear site data |
The Google AdSense script runs on every page, but it only sets advertising cookies once you click "Accept all". Until then, Google Consent Mode keeps these cookies disabled and any ads shown are non-personalised and cookieless. After consent, AdSense may set the following cookies:
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
IDE | Google (doubleclick.net) | Used to show personalised ads based on your browsing activity across sites. | ~13 months |
DSID | Used for signed-in users to link ad activity across devices. | ~2 weeks | |
test_cookie | Google (doubleclick.net) | Checks if the browser supports cookies. | Session |
Google may set additional cookies not listed here. For a full list see Google's cookie policy.
Route Posters processes GPS files (GPX, TCX, FIT, KML) entirely in your browser. No file data is uploaded to our servers or stored in cookies. This is a core privacy feature of our tool.
When you first visit Route Posters, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen with two options:
localStorage and tell Google (via Consent Mode v2) to keep advertising
cookies and ad personalisation off. You may still see basic,
non-personalised, cookieless ads.
The AdSense script itself loads on every page so ads can be served, but it respects the
Consent Mode signal above. Your choice is stored in localStorage under the
key rp_consent.
You can withdraw consent or clear cookies at any time using any of these methods:
rp_consent key. The consent banner will reappear on your next visit.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised accordingly.
