Supported file formats
Important: Apple does not provide a native GPX export from the Fitness or Health app. You must use a third-party app such as HealthFit or RunGap to access your GPS data and convert it to a standard file format.
Route Posters supports GPX, TCX, FIT, and KML files — the standard formats exported by GPS watches, cycling computers, and fitness platforms.
Step-by-step: from Apple Fitness / Apple Watch to a printed poster
- 1
Install a third-party export app
Download HealthFit or RunGap (both available on the App Store). These apps request read access to Apple Health and can export your workouts as GPX or FIT files. Other similar apps also work — look for any app that exports Apple Health workouts to GPX.
- 2
Grant Health access
When prompted, allow the app to read workout and location data from Apple Health. Without this permission, the app cannot access your GPS track.
- 3
Find and export your workout
Open the export app, select the Apple Watch workout you want to use, and choose "Export GPX" (or FIT, if the app supports it). Save or share the file to your device or iCloud Drive.
- 4
Open the Route Posters editor
On your computer or phone, go to Route Posters and click "Create poster".
- 5
Drop your GPX or FIT file into the editor
Upload the exported file from your Mac, iPhone, or iCloud Drive. The editor reads GPX and FIT files.
- 6
Customise your poster
Select a map style, colours, and template. Your workout stats — distance, time, pace, elevation — are pulled automatically from the file.
- 7
Download PNG or print PDF
Export your poster as a high-resolution PNG or a 300 dpi PDF ready for professional printing.
