How-to guide

How to make a poster from Garmin Connect

Garmin Connect stores every activity recorded by your Garmin watch or device. You can export any activity in GPX, TCX, FIT, or the original recorded format — Route Posters accepts all of them.

Supported file formats

Garmin Connect supports GPX, TCX, and FIT exports. FIT is the native format from your Garmin device and contains the richest data. Route Posters handles all three, so use whichever is most convenient.

Route Posters supports GPX, TCX, FIT, and KML files — the standard formats exported by GPS watches, cycling computers, and fitness platforms.

Step-by-step: from Garmin Connect to a printed poster

  1. 1

Open the activity in Garmin Connect

Log in to connect.garmin.com and open the activity you want to use. You can also use the Garmin Connect mobile app.

  2. 2

    Open the activity options menu

On the web, click the gear icon or ⋯ (more options) button near the top-right of the activity page.

  3. 3

    Choose your export format

Select "Export to GPX", "Export to TCX", or "Export Original" (which gives you the FIT file your device recorded). Any of these work in Route Posters.

  4. 4

    Open the Route Posters editor

Go to Route Posters and click "Create poster" to open the editor.

  5. 5

Drop your file into the editor

Drag and drop the downloaded GPX, TCX, or FIT file onto the editor canvas. Route Posters reads all three formats.

  6. 6

    Customise your poster

Choose a map style, template, and colour scheme. The editor reads your distance, pace, elevation, and time directly from the file.

  7. 7

    Download PNG or print PDF

Export a high-resolution PNG or a 300 dpi print-ready PDF for professional printing.
