A point-to-point half marathon running from Newcastle upon Tyne to the coast at South Shields. The route heads out of the city, crosses the River Tyne over the Tyne Bridge into Gateshead, then follows main roads east before finishing along the seafront. It is the largest half marathon in the world and the course is broadly fast with a net descent toward the coast.
