The Bay to Breakers course

A 12K run crossing San Francisco from the bay side near the Embarcadero westward to the Pacific Ocean at Ocean Beach and the Great Highway. The main challenge is the Hayes Street Hill, the only major climb, after which the course flattens and runs through the Panhandle and Golden Gate Park, passing the Conservatory of Flowers before reaching the coast. It is one of the oldest footraces in the world and is famous for its costumed, carnival-like participants.
