This historic point-to-point route runs from rural Hopkinton eastward into downtown Boston, passing through Ashland, Framingham, Natick and the scream tunnel at Wellesley College before the Newton hills, culminating in the famous Heartbreak Hill around mile 20. Although it has a net downhill drop of roughly 140 m and a fast early descent, the late hills and a course that can favour or hurt runners depending on wind make it demanding; because it is point-to-point and net downhill, marks set here are not eligible as world records.
Typical race-day conditions: Mid-April in Boston: variable, often 5-15 C, can be cold, wet, hot, or windy.
