The New York City Marathon course

The point-to-point course begins on Staten Island and immediately climbs the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge before passing through all five boroughs. Runners cross Brooklyn and Queens, climb the Queensboro Bridge into Manhattan onto First Avenue, briefly enter the Bronx, then return to Manhattan and finish in Central Park. The route is net-flat overall but features several sharp bridge climbs and rolling Central Park hills near the end, which make it considerably tougher than its modest total elevation suggests.
