The marathon starts near Fitzwilliam Square and finishes at Merrion Square in Dublin's Georgian centre, running an anticlockwise loop through the city. The route passes through Phoenix Park before heading out to the southside suburbs and back. It is generally fairly flat with some testing climbs in the middle miles.
