The Tokyo Marathon course

The point-to-point course starts at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku and runs east through the city, passing landmarks such as Iidabashi, Asakusa's Kaminarimon gate near Senso-ji Temple, Nihonbashi and the Ginza shopping district before finishing near Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace. It is a fast, largely flat road course with a slight net elevation loss and only a few gentle rises, which has helped produce some of the quickest times in the World Marathon Majors.
